  1. Ashish Kumar Singh

A compelling read, but the translation felt a little too modern at times. Still, the power of the stories shines through. A good introduction to Greek tragedy.

  2. Sujeet Kumar

A thought-provoking collection. The introduction was insightful and the plays are timeless. The translator did a very good job.

  3. Saksham Daga

Sophocles is a master. This collection shows why. Although, the themes were a bit too dark. Still it shows the ancient greek culture.

  4. Vishal

Found it heavy going in places, but the insights into human nature are profound. Definitely worth the effort. Though, at some points, it got confusing.

  5. Aashish Shrivastava

A must-read for anyone interested in Western literature. The themes are still relevant today and the writing is superb. Fainlight and Littman did great.

  6. Shivali Sharma

Sophocles’ genius is undeniable. This translation is very readable, making it accessible. Though the subject matter can be dark, its brilliant.

  7. Shivani Ghaloth

I struggled to connect with the characters. However, the introduction and notes were helpful in understanding the historical context. Fine edition.

  8. Bhanu Pratap Singh Rathore

Antigone is absolutely breathtaking. Oedipus the King was good, but the other plays dragged on. Overall, a worthwhile read for classic lovers.

  9. Tushar Singh Gujar

Excellent translation! The language is beautiful and the stories are as powerful as ever. Highly recommend this edition. Will reread it soon.

  10. Vaibhav Anand

The play Oedipus the king was fantastic, but the ending felt rushed. A solid collection overall. The translation captured the essence quite well.

  11. Sanjana Sadhwani

Not my favorite Greek tragedy, but a worthwhile addition to my bookshelf. Antigone was great. The other plays were a bit boring for me.
