A decent read about Martinique. The writing style was a bit dense at times, but the story of race relations kept me going. I felt little bored with it. Worth a look if you’re interested in the topic.

  2. Chirag Arora

This book completely immersed me in a different world. The atmosphere was very great. I am giving a five star. Amazing and heart-wrenching at the same time. Loved it.

  3. Sarthak Dipak Bhadange

Found it a bit preachy. The characters felt like mouthpieces for ideas. Didn’t connect with the story as much as I’d hoped. I will not read it again.

Worth reading for the historical context alone. A little slow-paced, but informative. Not one of my favorite books, but I don’t regret reading it. It was okay.

Struggled to get into it. The language felt a little too academic. However, the glimpse into Martinique was interesting. Overall I felt neutral.

Uneven. Some chapters were gripping, others were dull. It was good but not great. I expected more from this book. I don’t think I can recommend it.
