8 reviews for A Man of the People

  1. Swagatika Panda

Achebe’s satire hits hard. Nanga is infuriatingly believable, but Odili’s idealism feels a bit naive at times. Still a powerful read.

  2. Sheik Mohammed Bilal

While the story is important, I found it hard to get into. The language felt a bit dated. I liked the political message of the book.

  3. Bibin Lukose

A Man of the People is a classic for a reason. The story dragged a little for me in the middle. But the ending packs a punch.

  4. Aastha Sinha

This book is so relevant even today! The corruption feels a bit over the top at times, but overall a good read. I enjoyed the writing style.

  5. Harshit Sharma

I had mixed feelings. While the political commentary is insightful, I didn’t fully connect with the characters. It felt a bit preachy.

  6. Ravindran S

A brilliant and thought-provoking novel. Achebe’s prose is excellent. Although the ending was a bit abrupt, I enjoyed it.

  7. Sarthak Raj Vats

Achebe’s sharp wit makes this book both funny and disturbing. The characters are complex, and the themes are timeless. Highly recommended!

  8. Medha S Tigga

Good book, but a bit slow paced for my liking. The themes of corruption and power are well explored. I did learn something new.
