13 reviews for Three Gothic Novels

  1. Lisha

Interesting to see the evolution of gothic literature. Some parts were amazing and others were quite dull and hard to follow. Shelley saved the day.

  2. Nishita Chowdhury

An excellent overview of early gothic novels. “Frankenstein” still holds up, but the other stories felt a little bit tiresome. Still a worthwhile read.

  3. Gowri Krishna V R

I enjoyed “Frankenstein” the most. It was a worthwhile read. The other novels were okay. I found it to be a solid collection.

  4. Khushi Srivastava

Loved the book! Reading these novels together provided great context. “Frankenstein” was amazing but others were slow. Highly recommended for gothic fans.

  5. Rishav Kumar

A bit uneven, but overall a worthwhile exploration of gothic origins. “Frankenstein” is worth it alone. “Vathek” was fascinating.

  6. Chetan Sharma

A great collection! “Frankenstein” is always a winner. “Vathek” was interesting but a bit slow for my taste. “Otranto” felt dated. Overall, a solid gothic experience.

  7. Shubham Pal

“Frankenstein” is a masterpiece! The other two novels were okay. I wanted more horror. It was a pretty good collection, though.

  8. Ritish Goswami

Khalidi’s edition is well-presented. “Frankenstein” deserves stars, but the other two brought the average down. A good historical perspective, though.

  9. Yash Tailor

Loved having these classics in one volume. Shelley’s work shines, but Walpole’s was difficult to get through. Beckford’s offered a nice contrast. Worth the read!

  10. Akash Ankit

A mixed bag. “Frankenstein” is stellar, but “Vathek” and “Otranto” were just alright. If you’re a fan of gothic lit, give it a try, but set expectations low.

  11. Sanjana Sarraf

Enjoyed revisiting these classics. “Castle of Otranto” was weaker than the others. Shelley is a genius as always. Worth reading to understand gothic roots.

  12. Piyush Upadhyay

A decent introduction to gothic novels. “Frankenstein” is the obvious highlight. “Otranto” shows its age, and “Vathek” didn’t fully capture my attention.

  13. Devesh Sharma

Decent collection but not my favorite. The editor did a good job. “Otranto” and “Vathek” did not fully capture my attention. “Frankenstein” was the standout.
