Helpful Report Samrithi Yuvaraj 4.0 out of 5 stars Take a vacation with Kaveri Reviewed in India on 30 January 2026 Format: PaperbackVerified Purchase Kaveri is pregnant but it doesn’t slow her down even a little bit. She’s handling multiple mysteries while at the same time enjoying tasty food while on her hill station sojourn. Interesting with more twists and turns than the roads up to the hills. Helpful Report Absolutelyareader 4.0 out of 5 stars A mystery that's thrilling yet soothing Reviewed in India on 26 August 2025 Format: Paperback Being my first book in the Bangalore Detective Club Series, I didn't feel like I had to read the earlier ones first- it works perfectly as the standalone too. The story takes you through the Bangalore to the misty hills of Coorg. The plot was gripping and well crafted, i kept suspecting every character till the end. Kaveri is such an inspiring lead, brave , intelligent and full of determination. I loved her bond with her husband and the way the whole team added so much warmth and courage to the investigation. What made it even more special was how the author blended mystery with nature. It felt calming yet kept me hooked. Helpful Report Ankita 3.0 out of 5 stars A cozy thriller Reviewed in India on 10 January 2026 Format: Kindle Edition Reading this book felt like walking through old Bangalore and then suddenly entering the misty hills of Coorg. The story starts quietly but slowly pulls you in, and before you know it, you’re trying to guess the mystery along with Kaveri. I really liked Kaveri in this book. She is brave but still soft-hearted, and I loved how real she felt. Her bond with Ramu was one of my favorite parts — simple, supportive, and without unnecessary drama. The fact that she is pregnant in this book makes everything feel more emotional because she is solving a mystery while also taking care of herself and her baby. The setting is beautiful — coffee estates, forests, small villages — it really gives that cozy old-world feeling. The book also touches on things like gender roles, power, and social class, but in a very simple way, through the story. I also loved the small details like recipes and local words; they made the book feel homely and warm. At the same time, I will say the story moves a bit slowly sometimes. There were parts where I wished things would happen a little faster, and there are many characters, so I had to pause sometimes to remember them. But even with that, the mystery stays interesting, and the ending ties things together nicely. Overall, this book feels like a warm cup of coffee on a cold day — cozy, calm, emotional, and full of secrets. Not a loud thriller, but a gentle mystery that stays with you. Helpful Report Yamini 5.0 out of 5 stars Light mystery and detective adventure Reviewed in India on 25 July 2025 Format: Paperback As much as Kaveri is happy about her upcoming child, she also feels cramped by her over-caring MIL's nature, and dropping the investigations for the time being is really not helping. So when a murderous trail reaches her door, she finds herself swept away in its detection as she follows the links to Coorg, murder and mayhem amidst coffee plantations and the looming shadow of a ghostly leopard complicate every angle. Kaveri is one of my favourite protagonists, and now I feel like I have a special connection with her. Her character has been so relatable to me right from Book 1 that by now I am absolutely fond of her. The layers of mystery and the Agatha Christie-style puzzle-solving at the end were a sweet spot for me. There is something different in the writing style this time. The story feels meticulously crafted, with all the details and no blank spaces. This time around, all my questions were answered by the end, so I was completely satisfied with the ending too. I was listening to the audiobook as I was reading the physical copy, and let me tell you – the experience was immersive. I am only getting more and more fond of Kaveri as the series grows on me. If you are looking for a soft mystery that intensifies page by page in a historical South India setting, try it!
