Abhinav Pratap Singh –
A little uneven, but with some real gems. Saroyan’s voice is distinctive. The intro from Stephen Fry added value. Worth checking out.
Hardik Gour –
A mixed bag. Some stories resonated, others felt disjointed. Saroyan captures the era well, but the characters didn’t always grab me. Worth a read for Fry’s intro alone.
Aslam M U –
The descriptions of s America are brilliant. The stories really evoke a time and place. Will look into other works by this author.

Not what I expected. The tales of struggle were a little bit too much for me. I can appreciate what the writer was trying to do though.
Shinjini Roy –
Beautifully written and reflective of its time, but I found it quite depressing and struggled to connect with some stories.
Priyanshu Shukla –
Beautifully written, but a bit depressing. The struggles of the characters were hard to read at times. Still, a valuable glimpse into s America.

I was expecting more based on the description. Some stories were great, but others fell flat. Not a must-read, but not terrible either.

A fascinating collection of stories reflecting the era. Some were very short and I wish they were a bit longer and more fleshed out. Overall a good read
Aditya Gupta –
Struggled to connect with some of the characters. The writing style felt dated. However, a glimpse into the past and immigrant experience.
